While doing pottery as a college student I started using techniques to apply under-glazes to pots used in Japanese pottery. The technique was associated with Zen Buddhism and referred to as "a controlled accident". It wasn't long before I was using this method of splashing fluid media onto what ever piece of art I was working on. It gave me a sense of freedom that bringing the brush into contact with the surface didn't always give me. This new series of works has ink as the primary media.
